Chapter 2 page 496–I think I can . . .

I’m feeling a little better.  I’m far from 100%, but my quad is not painful under normal activities (too scared to run on it) and my cold is a little better.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes – PLEASE keep them coming as this weekend’s 50K Ultra Trail Relay Race will be beyond challenging if I were at 100% let alone given my current status.

Check out my “Victorious Secret” teammate’s post about our upcoming insanity race HERE.  Go ahead, check it out and while you’re over there watch the short video  – YIKES!!!!!

Any of you have any advice for running through DEEP water in the winter (should be about 25* when I' run, about 30* when “C” runs, and about 35* when Kimberly runs)  for a 10+ mile relay leg?

  1. Sending you prayers and well wishes for the race. I am super excited for you guys, can't wait to hear about it.

The biggest advice I have seen is to bring spare socks to change into and wearing either shorts or capris so your pants retain less water against the skin. Perhaps capris with your sleeves and change the sleeves and socks after that "creek" around mile 4.

Also, lots of mentions of wicking socks but I know you have to be careful with those. If I see any other advice on the facebook page I will let you know.

  2. I agree with Jenn's advice about having spare socks! If I get my feet wet I can't warm up, so I would make sure to change into dry socks after crossing the creek. Glad your quad is feeling a bit better, hopefully it's 100% for this weekend!

  3. 25 degrees?! holy crap. how deep is deep? If you can get away with it, at that cold I might wear pants that I could pull up high enough to NOT get wet, and then toss back down again to keep your wet legs warmer. then again, water crossings are what keeps me away from really wanting to do an ultra...

I hope you continue to heal! glad your quad is feeling better :) and thanks for the sweet comment on my blog!

  6. Oh you poor thing - just catching up and not good about the leg or your nasty virus. Hope you were ok over the weekend and that you were able to do the relay race. xxx Sammy
